Titans like this deal because it gives us an actual deep passing game. Mariota has been terrific but can't be accurate deep. Colts like the deal because they hate Luck, and Mariota may be the best young QB in the league. They also get a top 5 DE in the deal. The pick is to even out the difference in value between a QB and a DE.
Trades of this magnitude are rare but they do happen. Jay Cutler (traded at 25), Drew Bledsoe, etc.
